The Appointed List: Summer Edit
Summer doesn’t need elaborate vacations or a busy calendar. Sometimes, it’s the small moments that bring the most joy—reaching for a pen that feels fresh and fun, stepping outside for a mid-day break, or simply keeping your beach bag packed and ready to go. At Appointed, we believe in the power of thoughtful tools and intentional routines to help you savor the season, not rush through it.
Whether you're looking for a fresh take on everyday moments or searching for inspiration to slow down and be present, here are seven small-but-mighty ways to invite more summer into your life and a few of our favorite products to help you make it happen.
- Pack a dedicated beach bag for spontaneous seaside trips (or to the splash pad or your neighborhood pool). Throw in fresh towels, sunscreen, snacks and water, a linen jotter for on-the-go notes, and your go-to beach read so you’re ready at a moment’s notice.
- Plan a DIY summer movie festival. We’ve been obsessed with the NYT 100 Best Movies of the 21st Century list. Make a list of movies you need to see and invite your friends for a weekly summer movie night.
- Mel Robbins’ 5-Second Rule. Her foolproof technique helps you take action on everything from getting out of bed to embarking on a new career. Simply count down from 5 and take immediate action before your brain has a chance to hesitate or talk you out of it.
- Schedule breaks for getting outside. Write it down in your planner and set a calendar reminder for a specific outdoor activity. Whether it’s a walk around the block or sitting in your yard for 10 minutes, taking breaks away from your computer will increase your focus and help you enjoy the fleeting summer months.
- Plan summer meals with our free digital downloads (featuring a weekly meal planner and grocery list). What are we cooking? Classic BLTs (no recipe needed) and Caroline Chambers’ Creamy Corn Pasta.
- Switch to pastel pens and highlighters for everything. From to-do lists to work notes, bright hues are sure to get you in the summer mood.
- Make a getaway plan with pen and paper. Use a notebook for everything from itineraries to packing lists. Read more on the blog.
Summer doesn’t have to be busy to be meaningful. With a little intention, everyday life can worth celebrating. Whether you're jotting down notes by the pool or planning a picnic in your local park, your tools should support the way you want to feel: present, inspired, and a little lighter.
